The Thoracic Society of Bihar was formally established in October 2024 during its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Kolkata, with 12 founding members. The formation of the society arose from a pressing need to create a dedicated professional platform for pulmonologists, fostering academic learning and professional growth in an inclusive environment—irrespective of individual qualifications and experience. Beyond academic excellence, the Society is committed to nurturing collegiality, mutual respect, and ethical practice, with a strong emphasis on the well-being of its members. It aims to promote original research, encourage guideline-based therapy, and ensure its effective dissemination to remote areas of the state, while cultivating a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and shared responsibility for both professional fulfillment and patient care.
